Lost Ministries

Why?
I have been having trouble explaining what Lost Ministries is all about. I think part of that problem is because I don’t want to limit God. Our God is an amazing God and he can do anything. This ministry is His. He can take it where ever He wants it. I guess you could say Lost is about connecting technical people with missionaries to assist them. You could also say we are a resource site for missionaries to get ideas and information about how to get things done. In truth we are what God wants us to be. Lost ministries starts with me. God gave me the vision and now I want to share it with the world. So I thought maybe I should tell that story and then people will understand what Lost Ministries is all about.
I have an electrical engineering degree from Pensacola Christian College. It was while getting that degree that God spoke to my heart. During a missions conference, a missionary was speaking about the need for people to go on missions. In an example he mentioned that in his field there were no radio stations. His point was that God sent him there to spread his word because there was no way for it to get there. It is amazing how God can take small things completely out of context by the Holy Spirit and give insight to other areas of your life. This was one of those moments for me. I got stuck on the idea of why are there no radio stations in the jungle. Why couldn’t I help put one there? I know now that there are a lot of technical and financial difficulties to doing this, but it planted a seed. It got me thinking that about what I could do for God. I have talents that most missionaries do not have. How could I use those to help them? God has given me a passion for solving problems and coming up with new innovative ways of doing things. I can use those talents to come up with projects that I can do or others that when completed might just be a tutorial on how to do something simple or a custom solution to a problem that is unique to a certain missionary’s field. That is where Lost stands today. It is a place I can collect mine and others ideas and project and act like a research and development department for the work of God.
Is that all Lost will ever be? I pray that is not the case. The concept that I used to start this ministry can be applied to every person sitting in pews week after week in churches all over the world. The collective knowledge and experience of the body of Christ is amazing. By connecting the day to day lives of people with in churches with those of missionaries we can be more of a blessing to them and reach more people then just by giving a few dollars a month or going on a short term trip. Now those things are important, but we can do so much more. For instance, my father is a truck driver. A lot of the time he will have a load going one direction but nothing coming back. So he will deadhead back home or to the terminal for his next load. Now imagine a missionary on deputation will be traveling part of the same route that my Dad is on. In a few minutes he could load that missionary’s vehicle onto his trailer and drive him several hundred miles that he was going to travel anyway. That saves the missionary money and gives my dad an opportunity to be a blessing and to spend some time with a fellow Christian. How will these two even learn that they will be traveling in the same direction? My vision for Lost Ministries is to be a connection point and a conduit to connect the lives of ordinary church members with each other and with missionaries around the world. By working together we can spread the Gospel more effectively and more efficiently. May God have all the glory for everything that we do.
